"The next day John was there again with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi” (which translated means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about four in the afternoon. -John 1: 35-49
The Baltimore Catechism Question #6 states, "Why did God make me?" The answer, "God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world and to be happy with Him in the next." The foundational principle to this is to Know. In order to know God we have to spend time with him, heart speaking to heart, and we have to spend time pondering the mysteries of the Faith. We, as Catholics, belong to an extremely rich tradition and the Church has much for us to contemplate. As we learn about God it also helps us to come to know Him better.
Each Christian is called into this discipleship. This opportunity to "Come and See." Whether we are in Kindergarten or we finished college more than 50 years ago, we are all called to continue our journey of faith. The journey of getting to know the Lord more that we might love Him all the more and serve Him with our whole hearts.
The parish, thus, offers opportunities for youth and adults to continue their journey of faith through Mass, through prayer, through the Sacraments, and through formational experiences. We strongly encourage all members of the community to find the experience that is right for you and to get engaged in the journey.
