 PRAYER/SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  • Celebration of the Sunday Eucharist. 4:00 pm vigil mass; 10:30 am Sunday.

  • Celebration of the Eucharist and the blessing and distribution of ashes: Ash Wednesday, February 17, 8:30 am, 6:30 pm, church.

  • Celebration of weekday Eucharist: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am, chapel  Friday, 6:20 pm in church. Friday, March 12, 6:30 pm.

  • Way of the Cross: Friday, 6:00 pm, church. Friday, March 12, “A Migrant’s Way of the Cross”. Mass, 6:30 pm.

  • Reconciliation Service: Wednesday, March 24, 6:30 pm in church.

  • Parish Mission: Monday March 1, “God Loving Us Into Life”. Tuesday, March 2, “God Forgiving and Reconciling Us”, Wednesday, March 3, “God Empowering Us to Loving Service”. All talks will be in the church from 6:30 – 7:45 pm. presented by Father Louis Arceneaux, C.M. A Healing Ritual will be part of the evening on Tuesday, March 2.

  • Healing Ritual: Tuesday, March 2, during Parish Mission.

  • ”Spirituality of The Later Years” A series of presentations and reflections by Father Doug on Mondays, 9:15 – 10:15 am in the conference room. All are welcome, but especially those 60 years of age and older.

  • Sacrament of Reconciliation (Private Confession): Saturday from 3:00 – 3:30 pm or by appointment. Call Father Doug, 491-1565.

  • Youth and Young Adult  Revival: Sunday, February 28, 3:00 – 5:00 pm at St. Raymond/St. Leo Parish, 2916 Paris Ave. Guest Revivalist: Brian Johnson.

  • Evangelization Conference: Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27. Held at the Marriot Hotel. Brochures available in church.  Call the parish office no later than February 17 if you wish to attend.

FASTING/SACRIFICE

  • Fasting (Only one full meal a day) Ash Wednesday; Good Friday; 18 – 59 years.

  • Abstinence from meat: Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent. 14 years of age and older.

  •  

  •   Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in the World, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan: every Tuesday.

  • Operation Rice Bowl is a Lenten program of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.  We learn about our sisters andbrothers in the Third World who are in need, we pray for them, we fast by eating one simple meal a week and we give alms to them by putting the money saved in the rice bowl all during Lent.

 

ALMSGIVING/DIRECT AID

  • Donation of food to the poor: Collection of non-perishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank every weekend at the celebration of the Eucharist.

  • Feed the homeless: Serve the homeless at Ozanam Inn once a week. 

  •  Lenten Fish Fry:  Every Friday in Lent from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Eat in or take-out. Fried or baked fish dinners for $6.00 in advance or $7.00 at the door to help pay off the loan made to restore our parish buildings.

  •  St. Vincent DePaul: St. Vincent needs volunteers to make home visits to help with emergency assistance to those in need.

ALMSGIVING/EDUCATION AND ACTION FOR JUSTICE

  • ”Come Walk in My Shoes”: a video on the journey of Congressman John Lewis and others fighting for Civil Rights. Sunday, February 21, after 10:30 mass in church.

  • Walk for the Hungry, Saturday, February 27, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon, St. Anthony of Padua church.

  • IMMIGRANT JUSTICE: March 12 - 16   “A Migrant’s Way of the Cross”, Friday, March 12, 6:00 pm in church. Reflections on Immigrant Justice by Anna Chavez, weekend of March 13/14, Workshop on Immigrant Justice, Tuesday, March 16, 6:30 – 8:00 pm. (tentative) Postcards to congress petitioning for immigrant justice.

  • CASA. Court Appointed Special Advocate for an abused or neglected child.

  • Communities in Schools volunteer. Empower kids by tutoring and mentoring them.

  • Unity for the Homeless. Volunteer in several ways to empower the homeless.

  • Way of the Cross/ Way of Justice, April 2, Good Friday; 9:00 am - 12:00 noon in the CBD
